Terms and Conditions

The house keeps its promises in plain words. These terms and conditions (algemene voorwaarden) describe how buying from Savonije works.

These terms take effect on the date of their publication.

1. The trader

Michael Savonije, a sole trader (eenmanszaak) trading as Savonije.

2. Applicability

These terms apply to every offer and every order placed through savonije.eu. Savonije sells to consumers. The version published at the time of your order is the version that applies.

3. Prices

Prices are in euros and include any applicable VAT. The price shown is the price paid. Obvious errors in a price do not bind us.

Each piece is handmade around baroque freshwater pearls, and no two pearls are alike. Slight variation from the photograph in shape, tone or surface is a characteristic of the piece, not a defect. Every piece still answers in full to its description and to your legal rights under section 8.

4. The order

You place an order by adding a piece to your basket, entering your details at checkout and confirming with the payment button. The contract is concluded when we send the order confirmation email. These terms accompany that confirmation.

5. Payment

Payment runs through WooPayments (Stripe) and accepts cards, iDEAL and Bancontact. Payment is due in full when you order. There are no surcharges.

6. Delivery

We deliver by PostNL to these EU countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.

Orders are dispatched within two business days. Transit typically takes three days after dispatch.

Delivery within the Netherlands is free. For every other country PostNL calculates the cost from the destination, and the exact amount is shown in your basket and again at checkout before you pay.

The risk of loss or damage passes to you on delivery.

7. Right of withdrawal (herroepingsrecht)

You may withdraw from your purchase within fourteen days of receiving it, without giving a reason. To withdraw, send an unequivocal statement to info@savonije.eu; an email is enough. You may also use the model form in the annex. You then have fourteen further days to return the piece to Jacob Catsstraat 4, 5671VR Nuenen, Netherlands.

We refund within fourteen days of your withdrawal. We may hold the refund until the piece is back or you have shown proof of sending it. You may handle the piece as you would in a shop, and trying it on is part of that; if its value is diminished beyond that handling, you are liable for the difference.

Return costs

You bear the direct cost of returning the piece. No return label ships in the box. To arrange a return, write to info@savonije.eu and we will email you a prepaid PostNL return label, usually within one working day. The cost of that label is deducted from your refund. You may instead return the piece by any other means at your own cost, in which case nothing is deducted. The cost of the label depends on the country the piece is returned from. It is stated in the email that carries the label, so you know the amount before you post the piece.

The outbound delivery cost you paid is refunded in full at the standard rate, separate from any return deduction.

8. Conformity (wettelijke garantie)

The legal guarantee (wettelijke garantie) applies in full to every piece. A piece must match its description. If it does not, write to info@savonije.eu and we will put it right.

Savonije pieces are gold-plated silver, and a plated surface lives longest with a little care. The care page describes how. That guidance is advice on wear, and it does not limit the legal guarantee in any way.

9. Complaints

If something is wrong, write to info@savonije.eu. You will receive a substantive response within fourteen days. You may also contact the European Consumer Centres network for advice on cross-border purchases. Your right to go to court remains untouched.

10. Applicable law

Dutch law applies to these terms and to every purchase under them. If you live in another EU country, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer rules of your own country.

11. Annex: model withdrawal form

Complete and return this form only if you wish to withdraw from the contract.
